NECO registration runs through two distinct routes under the NECO (Establishment) Decree 1999 and the National Examinations Council Act Cap N37 LFN 2004. The SSCE Internal school candidate registers through their NECO-accredited secondary school for the June to July cycle on ssceinternal.neco.gov.ng; the SSCE External private candidate registers directly for the November to December cycle on ssceexternal.neco.gov.ng.

NECO Token (2026) — Result-Access 12-Digit PIN at results.neco.gov.ng and the WAEC Scratch Card Distinction
The NECO token is the result-access credential a candidate uses to read the NECO SSCE result at results.neco.gov.ng. Each token carries a single 12-digit Personal Identification Number that has formally replaced the older PIN-plus-serial-number scratch card the Council previously issued; the single-PIN structure is the structural distinction from the WAEC scratch card, which still carries a separate PIN and a separate serial number on a physical card.

NECO Certificate Collection (2026) — School Route for SSCE Internal Candidates and NECO State Office Route for SSCE External Candidates
The NECO certificate is the lifetime senior-secondary credential issued by the National Examinations Council after the SSCE Internal or SSCE External result is finalised. SSCE Internal candidates collect through the registering secondary school; SSCE External (NECO GCE) candidates collect directly from the NECO State Office in the state of registration.
