The short version of who we are and what we are not. Read this before relying on anything published on the site.
Independence statement
NigeriaHowTo is an independent information website. We are not affiliated with any government agency, ministry, parastatal, political party, or commercial entity covered in our guides. Always complete applications, payments, and identity verifications on official portals.
We are not a government agency
NigeriaHowTo is a private publisher. We are not the Nigeria Immigration Service, the National Identity Management Commission, the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Corporate Affairs Commission, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, the National Youth Service Corps, the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Federal Inland Revenue Service, or any other Nigerian government body. We do not represent any embassy or consulate. Where our guides describe an agency's process, we are explaining it from the outside — always check the agency's own portal for the official version.
We do not process applications or take payments
Specifically, NigeriaHowTo does not:
- Process passport, NIN, BVN, CAC, JAMB, NYSC or any other application.
- Collect application fees, charges, or stamp duties.
- Issue passports, identity cards, certificates or any other document.
- Perform identity verification or biometric capture.
- Book appointments, slots or interview dates on your behalf.
- Contact agencies, banks or regulators for you.
Any person, website, social media account or messaging contact presenting NigeriaHowTo as a payment processor, agent or application portal is fraudulent. Please report them to [email protected].
We never ask for identity or financial data
We will never ask you for:
- Your National Identification Number (NIN).
- Your Bank Verification Number (BVN).
- Your passport number or biometric data.
- Your bank account number, card number or card details.
- Your account passwords, PINs, OTPs or recovery codes.
No page, form or email from NigeriaHowTo will ever request the information above. If you encounter anything that does, treat it as fraudulent and report it.
Information can become outdated
We update our guides on a regular schedule and bring updates forward when an agency announces changes. Even so, fees and procedures can change between updates. For anything time-sensitive — paying a fee, submitting a form, travelling for an appointment — always confirm the latest details on the relevant agency portal before you act.
No professional advice
Content on NigeriaHowTo is general information. It is not, and is not intended to be:
- Legal advice for your individual situation.
- Financial, investment or tax advice.
- Immigration advice on a specific case.
- Medical advice.
For complex or high-stakes situations, engage a qualified professional who can act on your specific facts.
External links
Where we link to external sites — official agency portals, regulator pages, reputable press — we do not control the content, availability, security or privacy practices of those destinations. The presence of a link is not an endorsement of the external site beyond the specific point being cited. Where we link to an official portal, we have verified the URL at the time of the last update. Check the URL and the certificate before submitting any personal information.
Advertising and affiliate disclosure
NigeriaHowTo intends to remain free to read. To support that, we may run contextual advertising, sponsorships and affiliate partnerships with services relevant to our readers. When those relationships exist, they are clearly labelled where they appear.
Commercial relationships do not influence:
- Which topics we choose to cover.
- Which sources we cite.
- The factual content of editorial guides.
- What we say about a regulator, agency or service.
The full editorial firewall is described in our editorial policy.
Reporting impersonation or fake sites
If you find a website, social media account, email address or messaging contact impersonating NigeriaHowTo — or a site that looks similar in branding and is asking for personal or financial information — please report it to [email protected]. Include a screenshot and the URL or handle if you can. We investigate every report.
